23 Team – Who is Dugald

Hi, I’m Dugald Hamilton, founder and principal of 23legal. I’m a commercial litigation and insolvency lawyer, which is lawyer technospeak for I deal with large money disputes. I’ve been doing this since around about mid 2008, and I’ve dealt with some of the largest, most complex disputes in Australian history.

So why did I wanna become a lawyer?

Well, for me, that journey dates back to about when I was five years old, we were living in the Netherlands and I was the only person who could speak Dutch. And someone turned up at our house to try and shut the gas off because my parents coming from Western Queensland didn’t really understand that a gas account was needed, having always only just used electricity.

That sort of started a lifelong passion of helping people solve complex problems and disputes. And that’s why I founded 23Legal.

Ultimately, my passion comes from helping you solve the most complex disputes which come across your desk, whether that’s you owe a large amount of money or someone’s chasing that money from you, you’ve got some solvency issues or any other sort of dispute that comes across your table. This is what drives me.
